My BOOKS
Adult non-fiction
My interests in history and sailing are demonstrated in my non-fiction books for adults. As well as my new release, Ocean, I have also published A New Zealand Christmas (Random House, 2008), Adventure Sports: Dinghy Sailing (New Holland, 2001), and Shoot the Breeze (Random House, 2007).
Children's non-fiction
I enjoy sharing New Zealand's stories with young people. My 2009 collaboration with mountaineer
Mark Inglis, High-Tech Legs on Everest (Random House), was shortlisted for the NZ Post Children's Book Awards. Sirocco the Rock-Star Kakapo
(Random House, 2012) was named a Storylines Notable Book in 2013.
Young Adult Fiction
My love of history, the sea and stories for young people combine in my three YA novels: Fired Up (Scholastic, 1998), When the War Came Home (Scholastic, 2002; shortlisted for LIANZA Esther Glen Medal, 2003;
Storylines Notable Senior Fiction Book 2003) and Talking to Adam (Scholastic, 2005; Storylines Notable YA Book 2006)
